Faith Reflection:  Mercy—Love in action

This past Saturday, on the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of our Blessed Mother in Fatima, Portugal, Pope Francis canonized siblings Jacinta and Francisco Marto.  The message Mary brought to these two Saints, as well as their cousin, Lucia Dos Santos, was a message of peace, something still very much in need today. The rosary itself is a message of peace as we meditate on the life of Jesus, and it's not surprising that one of the requests Mary had of the children of Fatima was to pray the rosary.  Praying the rosary is a good way to bring peace to your family, and peace-filled families can be a "source of hope for others, a true and attainable hope," as Pope Francis said in his canonization homily.

Being merciful is another way to bring peace to our world.  Read the good and loving advice our 7th grader gives us this week.

Mercy Essay

 by Vianey

How I can show mercy is by inspiring people, and I can make people happy by showing kindness.  Not too long ago I showed mercy by throwing away trash that was left on the floor.  I also helped my mom with chores, and it made her really happy!

Showing mercy and kindness it not something to do once in a while, they should be shown everyday so you can inspire people.

With El Carmelo not having their Monday night adoration and rosary for the next several weeks I have used it as an opportunity to pray with the Groupo de Oracion.  This prayer group meets at Columbia every Monday night from 7-9p.  Though in Spanish, this time of prayer is open to all who wish to attend.  I'm not able to understand much but music spans across languages and I enjoy the musical interludes between the weekly speaker and the prayers being offered.  Please consider joining whether you speak Spanish or not.

   Thank you.  Mrs. Alhadef
