Parent Letter Faith Reflection

 Faith Reflection:  Mercy—Love in action

On Tuesday as the Fourth graders were excitedly cleaning out their desks, handing in their textbooks, and signing each other’s yearbooks it made me think of something Archbishop Lori of Baltimore, Maryland, wrote in a pastoral letter a couple years after Pope Francis was elected.  In his letter he found Pope Francis to be a challenging Holy Father, a Pope who was stretching him, pulling him and even occasionally pushing him.  This is precisely what happens to us—teachers, staff, and parents, as well as our students—throughout each school year; we are stretched, pulled and occasionally pushed as we learn and experienc new things. Even a quick look through the yearbook confirmed just how much we grew academically, socially and spiritually over the past year. Now having grown so much we go off on our summer break before we come back and take all the knowledge and experience from this year and apply it to a new school year, getting stretched, pulled and occasionally pushed all over again.  It’s a beautiful cycle to see played out year after year, seeing our kids grow, becoming strong Catholic Christians as well as life-long learners. I am thankful I have had another year of being a part of it.  May you have a blessed and wonderful summer.

We collected 6 bins of canned food in June, for a final total of 90 bins this school year. We have done much to help feed those in need and I extend a big thank you to all.  I would also like to thank Mrs. Luna and Mrs. Samaan who shared the duty of bringing our canned food to Family Services each week.

Cinema for the Soul, the parish Bible study, and the Loyola Marymount Theology classes at Aquinas High School will continue through the summer.  Please see the parish bulletin, or go on-line, for dates and times.

   Thank you.  Mrs. Alhadef
