I have been teaching Fifth Grade at Sacred Heart Academy for the past 14 years. I am a graduate of California State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in Psychology. I earned a California Clear Teaching Credential from the University of Redlands. In addition to my position at Sacred Heart Academy, I teach a GED Prep Course at the Inland Empire Career Centerl. I am involved in many areas of campus life at Sacred Heart Academy. I currently serve on the Diocesan Inclusion Committee which has enabled me to be instrumental in establishing a Student Success Team at our school. This program enables us to modify programs in order to foster success and self esteem for at risk students. I am also the Reading Intervention Teacher for our After School Program for struggling readers. For the past several years I have been responsible for coordinating our Summer School Program. In this capacity I prepare the curriculum and organize the staff for students of various ages and abilities. As Student Council Moderator, I have been responsible for many extra curricular events and activities. I have a great passion for teaching. I pride myself in the area of making sure I meet the needs of all students in my classroom. I see the student as the most important element of teaching. I believe it is the teacher's responsibility to know and understand the students. Diversity should not only be accepted, but should be held as a valuable and celebrated part of each class.
