Faith Reflection: Mercy—Love in action

The next modern beatitude of Pope Francis is blessed are those who protect and care for our common home.  Though this beatitude was just the next on the list it seemed fitting this week as he reminds us that we need to care and protect what is important to us.  We had a short prayer service yesterday that reminded us how important our country is to us and, as Bishop Barnes reminded us, we are the ones who are called to help protect and care for it.

Our 7th grader this week also sees the necessity of being good caretakers and includes this in his focused list of things to do to show mercy.

There are many ways to evangelize and be merciful.  The ways that stand out to me are:  feeding the hungry could be a way to be merciful.  Also, going to church could be a way to practice our faith and evangelize.  Another thing we could do is take care of God’s creation. By doing this we are being merciful.
