Parent Letter Faith Reflection

Parent Letter Faith Reflection

Today we share the last of the 7th grade essays on how our communities can go beyond what we already are doing to help others. I like how our 7th grade today sees to the future with his idea of equipping people with something that will help them with a critical need today as it also gives them a life skill that can be used to start a business. We now carry on our Lord’s work because we have become his brothers and sisters. Luke tells us the joy of this good news in the Acts of the Apostles (13:32-33) when he writes: We ourselves are proclaiming this good news to you that what God promised our ancestors he had brought to fulfillment for us, (their) children, by raising up Jesus, as it is written in the second psalm, “You are my son; this day I have begotten you.”

Radical Community Care

 by Sebastien

I am writing how we can improve our community care to the extreme! First, instead of just giving cans to the poor we can also cook the food for them. Second, we could gather all the hungry for big holiday meals. Third, we could make available free water sources on the streets so one will go thirsty. Finally, we could provide the poor with their own cooking tools. This could even get them a job as a chef or fast food employee.

Here are some ways we can shelter and clothe the poor. First, we can make free little trailer homes for people without homes. Second, we could have hotels for the poor so they could even live with their friends. Third, we could give personal gift cards to people without enough clothes. Finally, we could give sewing supplies to the poor. This will clothe them, and they could also start a sewing business.

Being disciplined allows us to do things and do them well; think of what happens when you practice something over and over, day after day, you become better the more you discipline yourself and practice. When we work together we can do things that would not have happened if we going solo. This is true also for our faith life. This video of a team of Japanese synchronized walkers illustrated this. Discipline and working together is what this team needed to do and the results are amazing. Apply this to our faith life and Jesus will become alive in our world. Here is what the 7th graders had to say: “God can do amazing things with us when we work together. He wants us to know that we need to work together to do some awesome things.”; “I saw faith in this video because we can do amazing things when we work together.”; “God gave us the ability to be disciplined and talented just like the Japanese walkers.”; “The Good News is that Jesus died for our sins and rose to heaven. His life was like synchronized walking. He did everything perfect without sin. And then he made a perfect place for us—heaven.”; “The video shows hard work because they had to be very patient to work together and not run into each other.”; “It’s pretty simple; when we all have the same goal and work together, with all our talents we can achieve AMAZING things.”
