Parent Letter Faith Reflection

Parent Letter Faith Reflection

The Fruit of the Spirit is what allows us to have balance and calm in our lives. For instance, without the Spirit filling our lives it can be difficult to be filled with peace. When overwhelmed with daily struggles or the many horrible things we know are going on in our world the gift of peace helps us through. St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (commonly known as Edith Stein) was filled with the Spirit. I’m awed by how calm and focused on God she remained even with faced with the sure likelihood of being sent to a concentration camp (which is what indeed did happen). Take her words to heart next time your are barraged on all sides to help find calm and continue on: Whatever did not fit in with my plan did lie within the plan of God. I have an ever deeper and firmer belief that nothing is merely an accident when seen in the light of God...And so I am beginning to rejoice in the light of glory wherein this meaning will be unveiled to me.

What I Want to Ask the Bishop

by Amelia

Dear Bishop,

How are you? I have a couple things I would like to suggest that you can do this year to make mass fun and interesting. Please speak loud and proud. Even though you have a microphone sometimes I can’t hear you. Have a smile on your face and be funny. Maybe you can say funny church jokes and other interesting things. Please also pray for our families. That is all I would like to suggest. Thank you.

Cinema for the soul will be showing the story of Hollywood actress Dolores Hart who left her acting life behind in 1963 to join the Benedictine religious order. Come watch God is Bigger Than Elvis Thursday, November 21st at 7pm in the Olive hall.
