Parent Letter Faith Reflection

Parent letter faith reflection

I cannot do all the good that the world needs. But the world needs all the good that I can do. This quote from motivational speaker Jana Stanfield has started a WAR here at school. Don’t panic. The First Graders aren’t fighting with the Third Graders. The Seventh Graders aren’t fighting with the Sixth Graders. In fact they have come together to help our environment, and WAR stands for We Are Responsible.

Led by the Holy Spirit a group of 6th and 7th graders, along with Mr. Burnham, have started a new club to help increase environmental awareness at our school. As Sophia P. told me when I asked about the new group, “Little kids can make a difference.” While their goals may seem modest at first, such as selling bamboo straws (to keep plastic straws from ending up in the ocean) as a fund raiser or putting educational posters around campus, they know that the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. They have taken that first step. Their goodness and generosity inspire me and I look forward to their activities; their  work will compliment nicely what our parish Laudato Si ministry does. I hope you also will give them your support and encouragement.

Currently WAR is comprised of 6th and 7th graders, but it is open to anyone in 5th-8th grade. They meet on Mondays at lunch in the 8th grade room.

Dear Bishop Barnes

Thank you for doing so much for our community. I really wish you had done more activities with our school but thank you for all that you did do. I hope you had a good time with us here the times you joined us at Sacred Heart.

Your Friend,

Nick
