Parent Letter Faith Reflection

Parent letter faith reflection

In the story of the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9) we are told God, as a way to stop the people from getting prideful, introduces multiply languages to confuse them, keeping them from being able to work together.

Diversity can stop us when we don’t know the language or customs of a culture, but there can also be unity in diversity. When we reach out to others to learn about their ways and traditions we become joined together and are better because of our differences; experiencing new things can help broaden our understanding, help us be more sympathetic, and keep us from becoming insular. I saw this in action this past Saturday when my mum and I came for the multicultural dinner at the Olive hall. We tried new foods, heard different music and saw different dances, and all was good; we had broadened our hearts to include other people and their cultures.

At one time God used multiply tongues to keep us apart, today the Holy Spirit brings us together through diversity allowing life to be so much richer when we share our cultures and are accepting of another’s.

A Letter to the Bishop

Sophia P.

At age 75 a new bishop is chosen. A bishop is defined as someone in charge of a diocese. Our current bishop for San Bernardino is Bishop Gerald Barnes, and he is going to retire soon.

Some advice to give the new bishop is to visit more schools often. Bishop Barnes a is great bishop, however, I wish he would pay more visits to the schools around him. Visiting more schools would allow him to build stronger bonds with everyone there.

That is the only words of advice I have to give to the new bishop. I am curious to see how his work plays out. Being a bishop does not seem like an easy job. You have to lead people who you are in charge of. I wish the new bishop the best of luck in his years to come.

God bless,
