Parent Letter Faith Reflection

Don’t you like it when someone makes your job easier? With this week being the beginning of Lent I wanted to share the 40 Ideas for Lent flyer that Marilyn Kott, who started our parish’s Laudato Si ministry last year, made available because there are many good ideas for what to do or give up for Lent from an environmental starting point. On Sunday Fr. Gino gave this ministry and flyer a plug during the announcements. My job was just made easier. So if you haven't already gotten one these purple flyers are still available in the back of the church. And if you are interested in going a step further you might consider joining the Laudato Si ministry. Their next meeting is Monday 16 March, 7pm at the Columbia hall.

The parish has also made two other resources available this Lent. Go to RedlandsCatholics.flocknote.com or text REDLANDS to 84576 to sign up for Bishop Robert Barron’s on-line resources. The Daybreaks booklet by Ron Rolheiser, OMI are available at the church exits while supplies last. Both of these excellent resources are available in Spanish.

Our 7th grader today gives his thoughts about Bishop Barnes visit to our school last year showing how we can be kind while we critique—he mentions both something good as well as something he thought needed improving. Humility is a key part of this season and you can find a short reflection by Bishop Barron on this by typing humble in the search box at Flocknotes.

Bishop Barnes

By Michael

I think Bishop Barnes did an okay job of being bishop. One way I think Bishop Barnes could have done better is with his homily. On the other hand, one way I think Bishop Barnes did amazing is by being very thoughtful. Some examples of this is how he visits the homeless, the sick and the imprisoned.

I hope the new bishop will also will be thoughtful of others like Bishop Barnes and that he will visit the sick and the homeless. One final thing is that I hope of our new bishop is for him to visit our school when he has the opportunity.

God bless,
