Parent Letter Faith Reflection

As parents have been trickling through the classroom today (Tuesday) to pick up work it has made me recall the Mass readings on Monday. I really liked how Fr. Erik tied the readings to what we are experiencing today with the corona virus. In the Naaman story (2Kings 5:1-15) everything turns out well in the end but getting to that point doesn’t happen how the people involved expected it to. I liked how Fr. Erik with care calmly reassured those there Monday that things aren’t going as most of us expected but by trusting in God all will be well.

The person on Twitter who posted these lines from the poem For One Who is Exhausted, a Blessing, said it spoke to her and thought that it might for others. I felt the same way so I’m including it here. It’s so Lenten as well as fitting for what is happening now: You have been forced to enter empty time./The desire that drove you has relinquished./There is nothing else to do now but rest/And patiently learn to receive the self/You have forsaken in the race of days...Gradually, you will return to yourself,/Having learned a new respect for your heart/And the joy that dwells far within slow time. - John Donohue

Bishop Barnes Essay

by Vita

Bishop Barnes has been a very hardworking, kind, and unique bishop. Serving our diocese for 27 years now he has done a lot to help everyone through difficult times. Since he has gotten to the age of retirement he will no longer be the bishop of the Diocese of San Bernardino. He will definitely be missed by many. These are the some reasons why Bishop Barnes has been a great bishop.

My family isn’t the holiest family and we aren’t very religious, but when I think of the bishop I think he is one of the holiest persons ever. He is very humble and shares so many great stories. He also helps people through their troubles by guiding them to God. I had never heard of a bishop until Bishop Barnes came. I think he was my first bishop ever! What I’m saying is that he will be missed very much.
