Parent Letter Faith Reflection

There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about

- Margaret J. Wheatley -

As I have been here at school getting the work into the bin for the 5th graders it’s been nice to see all the kindness that is on display as parents come to drop off and pickup work. Online I have felt the same way. Normally not much of an online person—Facebook has always been confusing for me to navigate—I have been using it more of late for the same reason, for a dose of compassion and community. With most of our other avenues for socializing and connecting suspended for now even Facebook has become a much needed social life-line. Everything from reading Coach D’s thank you letter addressed to the Coronavirus to seeing I share a daily meal schedule eerily similar to Candace Kelly’s has helped get through these days with a little grace and peace. Thank you to all who are doing the best you can during these trying times; we are certainly discovering who we truly are and what we truly care about.

Bishop Barnes Essay

by Euan

Being a bishop not only takes a lot of time away from family, but also being close to God. Bishop Barnes not only loves God but he also loves to spread the word of God to others. He has visited our school a few times but I wish he had come into the class more often and talked about how it is to be a bishop and the challenges he has had to face. It is sad that Bishop Barnes is retiring, but we will remember all the positive things that he has done in our diocese. He was a great leader to all and he will be surely remembered during his retirement.

For the incoming bishop, I pray that you will make positive effects not only in our community but in the whole diocese. I look forward to hearing you when you celebrate one of our school masses. Everyone will be excited to welcome you. I wish you the best experiences here in our diocese.

God bless,
