Parent Letter Faith Reflection

As businesses and other things start to open up it can also bring with it a new wave of concerns and worries even though it is something we have been waiting for. The concern might be it’s moving too fast, or that things aren’t opening up fast enough. Which ever end of the spectrum you fall on it’s a change again, and like any change, it can be helped by some coping strategies for the uncomfortable emotions that may arise. To that end I’d like to offer a short list of some ways to deal with stress: giving your pet some ear scritches, taking a walk, do some gardening, or joining Martha Plumb to pray the rosary.

The first three were probably familiar suggestions but praying with Mrs. Plumb may not have been. Until happening upon her on Tuesday she wouldn’t have come to my mind right off either. I usually can’t join for the parish’s 2:30 live rosary on Facebook, but Tuesday, however, I was able to join during Mrs. Plumb’s turn to lead. Her peaceful, sweet smile, and calm, unfazed way as she took care of getting the sound audible was just what I needed. No wonder she is the faith formation assistant working with the younger kids in our parish. She has a comforting and reassuring way about her—she reminds me of Mrs. Tahhan in our preschool. Even though Mrs. Plumb was praying the sorrowful mysteries I plan to watch her video again any day of the week that I need a little boost and reassurance.

  Bishop Essay

 by Conrad

Thank you Bishop Barnes for being a bishop for 27 years. I will miss you being our bishop; it was nice having you as bishop. The diocese will also miss you as well as Sacred Heart Academy. It was an honor to have you as bishop and I hope you enjoy your retirement.

I also liked when you would interact with us. You always made me laugh at the stories you told us.

Cinema for the Soul will be offering The Road to Knock on zoom, Thursday, 28 May 2020 at 7pm. See how a life of crime and a 70 foot fall lead to a pilgrimage to Knock and a renewal of faith. And like last month you need to watch the movie before the meeting and be signed up for Cinema for the Soul through Flocknote to receive the zoom password. You can sign up for Flocknote on The Holy Name of Jesus’ webpage. Enjoy the long weekend. Stay safe.

 God bless,
