Parent Letter Faith Reflection

Lent is a journey that involves our whole life, our entire being. It is a time to reconsider the path we are taking, to find the route that leads us home and to rediscover our profound relationship with God, on whom everything depends - Pope Francis

We began this week with things looking a little different at Mass—the color pink (or rose, if you insist) showed up. Just like in Advent, as we get close to the upcoming feast day we have a change of color to let us know we have almost arrived, encouraging us to hang in there.

In the past two weeks we’ve had good reflections from Bishop Rojas and Pope Francis, but like the change in liturgical colors this is the week to help us see things differently, so we're taking a different approach today. Poetry seemed the perfect fit when I listened to the 6th graders as they read them aloud last week. Luke’s awesome poem was the most fitting for Lent with it's image of holding on in a time of dessert.

 Magnet

by Luke, 6th grade

 A magnet/Forever stuck.\With no luck to\a white glare.\

Holding on with much despair\No one is there.\Just not fair!\

On the bottom\of an old white board,\gently holding on\

For so long\It's just that wrong\

Listening to the song of voices\On an empty board\I'm just ignored.

Showcasing 7th grader's talents: This sticky note art compliments Luke's poem nicely.
