Parent Letter Faith Reflection

The Spirit makes us see everything in a new way, with the eyes of Jesus. I would put it this way: in the great journey of life, the Spirit teaches us where to begin, what paths to take, and how to walk./El Espíritu nos hace ver todo de un modo nuevo, según la mirada de Jesús. Yo lo diría de esta manera: en el gran viaje de la vida, Él nos enseña por dónde empezar, qué caminos tomar y cómo caminar.– Pope Francis, Pentecost 2022

“Food Truck Party” the signs say, along with the dates in June and July when this will be happening. Being a foodie it caught my eye and took me a while (I’m talking a couple days) before I realized this was the theme for the summer faith camps to be found at churches in town, including The Holy Name of Jesus, and no actual food trucks would be showing up.

Disappointed, yes, but there will be plenty of food trucks to stop at during my travels this summer. And that brings us to what Pope Francis talked about in his homily on Pentecost Sunday. The Holy Spirit is our teacher, there are new paths and places to discover and grow in, new people to meet wherever we go this summer. As you go where the Spirit leads you this summer take with you this well-known Irish blessing: May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Have a wonderful summer, and happy eating.

Showcasing SHA talent: These elephants were drawn by Addie and Alex in 4th grade with their eyes closed. The Holy Spirit was with them as they came out incredible.
