Parent Letter Faith Reflection

Continuing with our focus on holy moments that 7th grade wrote about and how to create them, this week we look at what Jeremiah sees as holy moments. For him they are “a time when we feel connected to something greater than ourselves, whether it be a spiritual experience, an act of kindness, or a moment of mindfulness...By intentionally seeking out and creating these holy moments, we can lead more fulfilling lives and deepen our relationships with ourselves, others, and the world around us.”

How do we do this? Like last week, Jeremiah has some very good ways to achieve this. The first step to creating holy moments he says is to “cultivate a mindset of openness and awareness.” We can so easily get caught up in the day to day that we miss what is right in front of us, but “by practicing mindfulness and being fully present in each moment, we can start to recognize and appreciate the beauty and significance of the world around us.”

Something Jeremiah finds to be a key aspect of creating holy moments is “to embrace our own uniqueness and strengths. Each of us has something special to offer the world, and by sharing our gifts with others, we can create meaningful connection and experiences. Whether it’s through art, music, writing, cooking, or any form of self-expression, finding ways to use our talents for the benefit of others can be a great way to create holy moments.”

Like Elijah last week, Jeremiah also finds cultivating gratitude to be important; it can help us have a positive and optimistic outlook on life. Taking risks, facing our fears, and stepping out of our comfort zones are other ways he says, “we can create holy moments that are both exhilarating and transformative.” He knows this from personal experience. As he put his own words into practice he “began to notice small good things in people and felt grateful for everything they do for me.”
