Principal's Letter Faith Reflection

Love does no evil to the neighbor; hence love is the fulfillment of the law./El amor no hace más prójimo.
Per lo tanto, el amor es la plenitud de la Ley.—Romans/Romanos 13:10

Pope Francis was hospitalized last month, and given how critical he was, having a conclave to elect a new pope came up more than once. One person posted some of Benedict XVI’s homily, then still Cardinal Ratzinger, from the opening mass of the 2005 conclave that would go on to elect him as pope. His words are still fitting today:

Everyone wants to leave something that lasts. But what lasts? Not money. Buildings don’t last, neither do books. And after a certain period of time, more or less lengthy, all these things disappear. The only thing that lasts into eternity is the human soul. The human person created by God for eternity. This fruit that lasts is therefore what we have planted in people’s souls—love, understanding, the gesture capable of touching hearts; the word that opens the soul to the joy of the Lord. Therefore, let’s pray to the Lord so that the Lord helps us to bear fruit, a fruit that lasts. Only this way can the earth be transformed from a valley of tears to the garden of God.
