With faith, nothing is possible. With it, nothing is impossible./Sin fe, nada es posible. Con fe, nada es imposible. - Mary McLeod Bethune
In his last homily on Easter Sunday, Pope Francis ended with a quote from Adriana Zarri. She was an Italian theologian before women were able to be in this space, a writer, and spent the last half of her life as a hermit—she died in 2009 at age 90. She had a life long focus on deepening her relationship with God reflected in her theology and writings. Prayer was a way to do this but she looked beyond reciting formulas. Much of her work is not available in English but one of her best known prayers - her not prayer - “Quasi una preghiera" (Almost a Prayer), is translated. I was able to find translated. A few lines are below:
Praying is not saying prayers
praying is rolling
in the darkness of your light,
and letting ourselves be gathered,
and letting ourselves speak
and letting ourselves be silenced
by you.
Praying is you who prays,
you who breathes,
you who loves me;
and I let myself be loved
by you.
Praying is a meadow of grass,
and you walk over it.
Showcasing SHA talent: This church Dylan in 4th shows us would be a good place to have some quiet prayer time.
