Principal's Letter Faith Reflection

The greatest risk in life is to waste it outside of God’s plan.—Pope Leo

Graphic novels may still not be my first choice for books but the graphic novel about Arvo Part has made me see them differently—the artist in me is responding to it—and I hope to purchase it soon. Learning is what we are here for at SHA and that also includes us adults. I like that I have learned something about a subject I wasn’t knowledgeable about and now have a better appreciation.

We can grow in many ways, and it doesn’t have to be in an academic, book learning kind of way. Yes, we grow when we learn about a saint, such as Carlos Acutis, canonized this past Saturday, or join a Bible study group, but we also grow when we spend more time in prayer, reach out to the hungry in our community, or learn from our mistakes. We grow when we are open to where God is leading us. Saint Carlo, who died when he was 15, did this in the ordinary events of everyday life - from how he played sports to using his interest in computers to build a website devoted to documenting Eucharistic miracles. There is much to learn from this teenager just like there was much I learned about graphic novels. As Proverbs 18:15 says: The mind of the intelligent gains knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge./Un corazón inteligente adquiere conocimiento, y el oído de los sabios busca la ciencia.

Showcasing SHA talent: If you need to learn how to use a microwave, Julian in 8th would be glad to help.
