The new liturgical year that begins the first Sunday of Advent also brings a year of new readings. This year is cycle A, with most readings being taken from the Gospel of Matthew; so what do what do we have to look forward to this year? In his Gospel we will hear the beatitudes we are most familiar with, the corporal works of mercy outlined differently than Luke, and learn that Jesus is gentle and humble of heart. For today we will leave you with a passage from Matthew 2:10-11 about the Magi that is read on Epiphany Sunday but the joy in it matches the joy of this coming Gaudete Sunday: They were filled with joy at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Showcasing SHA talent: Forgot who drew this but like how they helped the Magi by labeling the Holy Family.
