Principal's Letter Faith Reflection

We are in ordinary time but the Word that became Flesh is still with us. So how, then, do we continue to carry this reality that the Word made flesh is still dwelling with us? I turned to the Latin translation of “Word” as “Verbum.” Verbum is an active word; it not only means a state of being but action as well. Jesus becoming incarnate, Pope Leo said at Christmas, “entrusts us with a twofold commitment: one to God and [one to others].”

This commitment is active, consistent, and recognizes we all contain “a spark of God’s light.” “The Incarnation,” Leo said, “demands a concrete commitment to the promotion of fraternity and communion. Through this commitment, solidarity becomes the criterion of all human relationships, calling us to strive for justice and peace, to care for the most fragile, and to defend the weak.” God has become flesh—verbum—keep the Word active.

Showcasing SHA talent: Sloan and her friends in 1st are celebrating the Word becoming flesh.
