Having a degree in Geography and Anthropology I liked learning recently that the popes have been supporting archaeology for over 100 years. Pope Leo said last month in his letter on the importance of archaeology, “the Christian faith is historical...and Christian theology cannot be fully understood without understanding the places and material evidence that bear witness to the faith of the early centuries.” Archaeology, he said, "helps us to understand how Revelation became incarnated in history."
A Jesuit priest said recently, “The glory of God shines through people who love. Their goodness is like a piece of a stained glass window. The white light of God reaches the glass, but the individuality of a loving person gives God’s light color and beauty. These pieces combine to tell the story of God’s people.” When we know our history, we know who we are.
Showcasing SHA talent: Ok, Ari in 8th may not be doing archaeology, but uncovering a rabbit from a hat is cool nonetheless.
