The Gospel reading the first Sunday of this month was from Matthew 14:13-22 where Jesus withdraws to a deserted place to be by himself after feeding the hungry crowd. Fr. Erik was coming back from his vacation and used this passage to show how important rest and renewal is: rest helps us return refreshed. As Fr. Erik said, “I have returned grateful and renewed. More importantly, I returned reminded that when we place our limited ‘five loaves and two fishes’ into the hands of Jesus, He can multiply what we offer. May we never be afraid to step away when needed and my we always return ready to love and serve one another with renewed hearts.” Perfect words as we begin this new year.
Lord, God almighty, your Spirit fills the earth and all people with your wisdom. May the Spirit teach us your ways and fill us with your wisdom. Amen.
Showcasing SHA talent: Our 250th celebration may have happened over summer but we can still show 5th grade Charlie’s great art.
