Principal's Letter Faith Reflection

God is a God of love. If we love God, we love everything God made because it is all a reflection of God’s love. Within that, though, we face suffering, and that can be a stumbling block to our faith. Father Satish Joseph, of Dayton, Ohio, whose homilies I read online, addressed this. Focusing on Matthew 14:21-27 where Jesus tells his disciples he must go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly, Matthew is showing Jesus “as the model of facing suffering with faith.” Prior to Jesus, people had turned to religion as a way out of suffering. Jesus faced his suffering with undying faith in God, and “infused the cross with a whole new meaning. Jesus transformed the cross into a means of expressing fidelity to God and to humanity. Jesus made the cross a means of showing undying love and forgiveness.” Jesus invites us to live life and any suffering we encounter, in solidarity with him.
