“By its very nature, mercy indicates something concrete: intentions, attitudes, and behaviors that are shown in daily living,” says Pope Francis. As I read through the 7th grade essays the most common visible and concrete actions they mentioned were providing food for the need and forgiveness. Today we have Nico’s essay where he talks about both of these. In his essay he tells us we need to both ask God for forgiveness for our own failings, as well as extend our forgiveness to others.
How to Evangelize Mercy
by Nico S.
We can pray to God and ask him for forgiveness. I can go to Church every Sunday. I can forgive those who have hurt me. I can also forgive people who have bullied me.
We can give to the poor. We can give them stuff like toiletry items, sleeping items, etc. We can give to the needy in our own community, giving them food and water.
I have joined with Mrs. Hector in helping to make the school more visible online—last week I got a Twitter account. She will continue to use Facebook and Instagram, keeping these sites up-to-date, while I will be Tweeting these faith reflections, Jesus, Go!, the Five Minutes With Francis page, and various things our kids are doing. I will also be putting some of these on Facebook. You can follow me on Twitter @naditaAnne. For those of you who don’t have a Twitter account remember you can follow anyone on Twitter, sans an account, you just can’t Tweet back without one.
This Saturday 15 Oct, 2016, Fr. Manuel Cardoza, pastor at Our Lady of Hope Parish, will be celebrating Mass outdoors near the Planned Parenthood on Commercenter West in San Bernardino. Please join us at 9am in support of life.
Need an hour at a slower, quieter pace? Come join us at El Carmelo on Monday nights from 7-8pm. They have started to offer an hour with Adoration, Rosary and confessions on Mondays as a way to keep the peace and joy of this Year of Mercy alive and active in our lives. Please note these exceptions when the Monday night Adoration will not be available: 24 Oct, 31 Oct, 26 Dec and 23 Jan.
And speaking of going at a slower pace, even if only for a little while, the October Five Minutes With Francis reflection on the Rosary and Our Blessed Mother is now available. Read how even 5 minutes spent with Mary can bring calm and peace.
Thank you. Mrs. Alhadef
