Welcome to 3rd grade!!! I have been teaching 3rd grade at Sacred Heart Academy since 2005. I graduated from Cal State San Bernardino in 2002 with a B.A. in Liberal Studies and a minor in music and I earned my teaching credential from the University of Redlands.  I have been a parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus since 1978.  My husband, Roger, and I were married here.  My son attended Sacred Heart Academy from kindergarten through eighth grade!   So, needless to say, my family is very committed to this parish and school.  I truly enjoy teaching 3rd grade and try to make learning fun, engaging, and relevant.

Info for this week

Just a reminder: there is school Mass tomorrow. Please remember to bring canned or boxed food.  This class has been so generous in their giving.  thank you.

Your student went home with a bright blue paper with info about our field trip.  If they haven't given it to you, please ask for it.  I mentioned to the class that they could bring cameras with them if they have your permission.  It was asked if they could bring an iPod to take pictures.  I said that I would need a written note from a parent giving permission.

If you are one of my nine driver/chaperones, please ask your student for the note I sent home with them.  Some drivers need to provide information to the office prior to driving.  Thank you!

Scootpad

i am sorry for the delay, but Scootpad is finally posted.  This week's assignment is not due until 02.21.16.  Thank you for your patience.

Ash Wednesday Mass and Field Trip

Tomorrow the 3rd grade class will be leading the parish Ash Wednesday Mass starting at 9:00. Again our great students will be lecturing, altar serving, and cantoring / singing in the choir.   Please remember to have your student bring a canned or boxed food for the collection.  I hope that you will be able to join us!!

Your student brought home a goldenrod colored paper today.  This is the field trip permission slip.  The entire form and $10 (to cover the entrance fee) is due no later than Tuesday Feb. 16th.  Permission forms will not be accepted after Tuesday - no exceptions.  Thank you for those that responded to my previous note - We have enough drivers/chaperones for this trip.  If you would still like to tag-a-long, you are more than welcome to join us, please let me know.

Field Trip Driver/Chaperone Note Home

Hello all!  Last Thursday I sent home a note on bright blue paper about our upcoming field trip.  If your student has not given it to you, please ask for it or look in their backpack.  I am needing to confirm who is driving/chaperoning and who is tagging along.  As of right now we have seats for 16 of the 32 students.  Please let me know ASAP.  Thanks!

Grandparents Mass

Just a reminder that we are leading the school Mass this week.  We will be doing the readings, cantoring/choir singing, and even altar serving!  Your student can invite any grandparent / elderly friend to join us during Mass.  Mass will begin at 10:00.

Please look in the photo album tab and look for the file 2015-2016 Talent show.  You will see pictures of Jeanna, Cora, Adryane, and Bella as they perform at the SHA Talent Show!!!

This week's goings on

Today we discussed the culminating project for the Witches.  Please ask your student for the Choice Board activities.  They are to choose two activities to complete with one of the activities being a writing activity.  This assignment is due on Wednesday February 3rd.

Bishop delRiego walked in the Walk for Life event in Los Angeles this past weekend.  This walk supports the pro-life ministries of the Church.  This week, we are supporting his efforts with our Baby Bottle campaign.  If you or your children have any change or a few extra dollars to donate, it will be much appreciated.  Thank you.

Today we planned out two masses that we are leading: the Grandparents' Mass on Feb 5th and the Ash Wednesday Mass on Feb 10th.  We hope that you will be able to join us for one or both of the Masses.

Matchbook Summaries

We have completed the book The Witches!  Each student should have a matchbook summary for all 22 chapters  These summaries are due by Tuesday morning.  We will be completing the project on Tuesday.  Thank you!

Question of the Week

The Question of the Week is for the 3rd-5th grade classes this time.  Unfortunately, not one of the 3rd graders answered the question!  Please help your student locate the question on the school website (Click on the Spiritual Life tab, then click Question of the Week.)  Have your student write down the answer and bring it to class on Monday.  This will count as extra credit for religion.

Science Fair Projects

The students did a great job with their projects!  They are all on display in the parish hall.  If you attend Mass on Sunday, please stop by to take a look at all the interesting projects.

Science Fair Project Presentation

Here is Emily and Sophia presenting their science fair project to the class!!!

Science Fair and Assignment Log

Just a friendly reminder that science fair projects are due in Tuesday.  Their science boards and journals need to be turned in that day.Students will be presenting them to the class on Tuesday and Wednesday, and they will be placed in the hall on Thursday.  Students will be taking their project home the following Monday.

Starting next week each student will be filling out an Assignment Log during class.  This will indicate what was done in class and if your student has any class work that was not completed in class and at has to be done as homework.  Hopefully this Assignment Log will help keep you aware of what has been done and what is happening later on during the week.

Scootpad

Scootpad assignments are now available for this week.  They are to be completed by Sunday afternoon.
