LEAP students took a little tropical vacation today. Our Island Hop activity helped students visualize the concept of rounding or estimating. Great Job!

alright it's Friday today and in third grade we're taking a lunch propagule vacation we are going to be playing Island hop the students are learning how to and or estimate numbers so we're going to do some hopping to figure that out okay so all the students have a number that they're on that's their Island for example Cora what number are you on so Corey is on 70 that's her Island and let's see let's go way down over here what island are you on  120 good job the other end are you on  zero so you're an island zero okay we're going to do some island hopping please move to your left two spots not if you notice Victoria you can't move right so you're going to stay everybody move two spots you were on island 70 what number are you on now  72 so if you were to hop to the closest island are you going to hop back to 70 or all the way over here to 80 were play tennis 77 hop to your closest island good job so now you're rounding down good okay here we go Ethan let's what island are you on  30 can everybody move to your right 7 times cancel Evans move it there's five  sex 7 good job everybody hop to your closest island oh you're on it's completely different number now aren't you even what number are you on  Winnie that's right because your new number is closed 20 then it is 230 Sophia took your spot over there okay good job we're going to keep working on this good job can you guys say bye Save a Life when the mom and dad
