so here we are we are in sixth grade today and Lily is going to model for us how we are learning to compare ratios okay Lily Shelley compare the number of oak trees to the number of maple trees as part of a study about hardwood trees in a wood lot she counted nine maple trees too resize oak tree later in the year there was a bug problem and many trees die new trees were planted to make sure there were the same number of cheese as before the the new ratio of the number of maple trees to the number of oak trees is 3 to 11 after planting new trees there were 135 how many more maple trees were in the woodlot before the bug problem then after the problem explain so first I took out tell me the info to make it more simple and so before there were nine maple trees to every live oak trees and then afterwards the ratio Maple to Oak 3 to 11 and I know that after the planting the new trees there were a hundred 32 oak trees so what I did is I took the after ratio and we call that either a bar model or a tape diagram correct yes okay and when I did is I took 130 and divided it by 11 because there are 11 oak trees for every three maple and I would get 12 so that means in every unit there are 12 and that means for the whole entire problem there are 12 and every unit so then I made a bar graph for before ratio and that's been the nine-to-five is okay  you've got five boxes and then 9 box or 9 boxes and then 5 okay good  when is new unit okay good Savannah Maple here there are  108 because 8 times 12 equals 100 and since I'm trying to figure out both of them Maples for the before and after I would have to do 12 times 3 which would be sex  and the question was how many more maple trees were in the Woodloch before the bug problem then after the wood problem I would take a hundred and 8th and I would subtract 36 from it because these are both the amounts of maple trees before and after which would give me  72 so that means there  r70 more maple trees before good job how did we do everybody to be at 72 more everybody good job nice job that's great thank you very much they buy
