Even now, says the Lord, return to me with your whole heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning...for God is slow to anger and rich in kindness. Joel 2:13 Español

Sacred Heart Academy

Benvenuti to Miss Alhadef's Home Page for the 2020-2021 school year.
I'm so glad you stopped by to check out our wonderful school. We are celebrating our 122nd year of Catholic education in Redlands. We have started off the school year with real time remote learning with the hope we can have the kids back in the classrooms with us at some point this school year.

I'm the 4th Grade Aide, Junior High Language Arts Aide, and am Campus Minister. This year the weekly faith reflection with 7th Grade is incorporated into my homeroom time with them on Wednesdays. They did not write an essay this year but we do art many mornings during homeroom and these pictures are added to the weekly note I have in the parent letter.
I graduated from California State University, San Bernardino in 1989 with a degree in Geography and minor in Anthropology. I have been at Sacred Heart Academy since 2000 and have also been the aide in 1st, 3rd, 5th, and Jr High. I also was the Extended Care Director for 10 years.
As Campus Minister I write a blurb for the weekly Parent Letter - this blurb is also posted under Keeping Up With Your Faith. Occasionally I write reflections for Five Minutes With Francis. These reflections can be found under Spiritual Life, and the parent letter can be found under Parents/note to parents on the school's main web page. Both are posted on our school Facebook page (see link at bottom of page).
In the past in 4th grade I have done some Italian with the class during religion, in particular we prayed the La Benedizione del Vescovo (The Bishop's Blessing) to begin our religion time daily but again this will be adjusted given the present circumstances. We will continue to take charge of La Tavola di San Giuseppe (the Saint Joseph's Table) in March, and pray we will be able to celebrate this feast day in person..
Lastly I'm all about God, dark chocolate, squirrels! (where?!), and the Dodgers (and yes, I'm very happy we won the World Series this year - Go Dodgers!). I also give walking tours of Redlands which can still be done during this time of social distancing.

Buonagiornata, e che Dio te benedica con pace e gioia.

Birthday surprise for Mrs. Alhadef - 25 Sept

I knew they wanted me to come back to class to do a little something for my birthday. Seeing an empty class I was thinking they aren't at the field or the carport where could they be. Just as I was thinking, 'Oh, they can't all be in the closet" this happened.

Playground Music

4th grade's musical composition using various equipment on the field as their instruments. Morgan, Lila and Giovanna came up to me on Monday and presented their idea of doing something similar to Tower Music where Bertolozzi did this using the Eiffel Tower as his instrument. The girls did some test runs and scoping out of sites at recess and we created a basic storyboard of what we wanted to do, but we had no rehearsal time. We split the class so there weren't too many students at any one time playing. The things we used are what you find in the classroom; pencils, rulers, scissors, etc. Additionally our first film crew fell through but they found us a replacement team 20 minutes before we began filming. We thank Mrs. Misenheimer for jumping in last minute and having great intuition for what we were doing. She did a great job filming. Enjoy our video and hear our playground in a whole new way.
